Weddings

Choosing the person you want to officiate at your wedding should be one of the first steps in planning for your wedding. Although finding your bridal gown, and planning your party are important and fun, you want to be sure to have a good rapport with the person who will marry you. You want someone who shares your values and can turn them into a ceremony that speaks to the heart of both of you as a couple.

Each wedding I officiate at is individualized to reflect your hopes and dreams for your future as a married couple. You are welcome to participate in the creation of the ceremony. You may have a favorite poem, song, or reading you would like included. You may wish to have culturally symbolic items present in the service. If you are Jewish you may wish to stand under a khupa, the wedding canopy, to take your vows. If you come from the Christian tradition, you may wish to light a unity candle. If you are Hispanic, you may wish to include the “lasso” ceremony. Including family traditions help bond members of your family, and help guests who do not share your traditions understand and appreciate the cultural background from which you come. These rituals enrich your ceremony as well as your relationship with one another.
