About Elaine
I have spent most of my adult life working with children and their families, as a teacher, as Assistant Director of a Jewish Community Center, and as principal of Jewish Sunday School programs. As a Secular Humanistic Jewish Leader, and a member of the clergy, I have officiated at numerous weddings, commitment ceremonies, and same sex weddings, at Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations, baby namings and memorial services.
All ceremonies are personal and individualized, and the greatest care is given to creating services and ceremonies that reflect the values of the student’s family or the couple being married.
Life cycle events are unique opportunities for people to express their personal values and identity – to acknowledge publicly what is important to them. Non-denominational secular ceremonies can be inspirational while avoiding the dogma found in religious services. They allow for dignity and integrity while maintaining cultural relevance. They include beautiful meditations and readings, poetry and music, traditional and humanistic rituals that create poignant moments that invite your guests to reflect on their own lives.
My love of Judaism inspires me to work with families who wish Jewish ceremonies that reflect their connection to the history and culture of the Jewish people without theistic content. My love of humanity, working with people from diverse backgrounds, provides the foundation for working with couples and families who are not Jewish but are seeking meaningful life cycle ceremonies that reflect their core beliefs.
Life cycle ceremonies ground us and give us something to both look back on, and to look forward to. They set the stage for growth and development, whether for the child who is experiencing a coming of age ceremony or the couple who are embarking on a new life together.
